We recently reported on how our partners fared in the 52nd season of ESEA. The 53rd season is now underway, with many of our partners taking part. One of them is Gloris eSports, who have already played two matches. Last season they reached the playoffs, but failed to secure promotion beyond the Open10 league. Now they have another chance.
Season opener – Gloris eSports vs tscs
The season opener took place on Tuesday, with tscs as the opponents. The map selected after bans from both teams turned out to be de_mirage. Gloris started on the attacking side and lost the pistol round, giving their opponents a 2:0 lead. Our partner also failed to win the first round on full loadout, and the opponents extended their lead to 4 points. After that, Gloris finally managed to respond, but only once, as the opponents also added to their tally. Despite this, our partner didn’t give up and went on a run that saw them take a 6:5 lead. However, the final round of the first half went to tscs, and the half ended in a draw.
It was time for Gloris eSports to take the defensive side, which is considered the easier one on this map. Unfortunately, a poor pistol round failed to showcase the stronger side’s potential, and it was the opponents who took an 8-6 lead. A response came immediately, and by the 16th round we were back to a draw. After that, unfortunately, the opponents found a way to break down our team’s defence, which instantly gave them an 11-8 lead. Gloris tried to salvage the situation by winning a single round, but that was obviously not enough, and the opponents ended the match with a 13-9 score.

Attempt to bounce back to a 1-1 record – Gloris eSports vs Minions
After starting the season with a defeat, it was time to bounce back, and the opportunity to do so came as early as the second day when the opponents were the Polish team Minions. A very professional name, so the play must be just as professional. The map remaining after the bans this time was de_inferno. This match finally began with Gloris winning the pistol round, putting them 2-0 ahead. The opponents didn’t give up, and by the 5th round they were leading 3-2. Gloris managed to draw level, and did so twice, ending the exchange at 4:4. After the next two rounds, Gloris managed to take a 6:4 lead, but the opponents quickly responded, leaving us with a draw at half-time.
Our team played the second half on the defensive side. Once again, they managed to win the pistol round, but once again the opponents responded quickly, taking a 9-8 lead. The Minions didn’t stop there and went on such a run that they secured a 4-round lead. Gloris eSports tried with all their might to fight back and, in a way, they succeeded, as they were just one round away from forcing extra time. Despite this, the opponents did not want to prolong the match and ended it with a score of 13:11, pushing our partner to a 0:2 record.
