A summary of our partners’ performances in ESEA Open10

Unfortunately, our partners’ run in ESEA Open10, Season 52, has come to an end. None of our partner teams managed to secure promotion to a higher division, although there was only one we didn’t see in the play-offs. There are still over 5 days left to register for ESEA Season 53. We hope that the number of partner teams taking part in the ESEA-organised competition will increase this time around as well.

Young Stars

Let’s focus, however, on the 52nd season, starting with the Young Stars academy, which, unfortunately, failed to qualify for the knockout stage. Six wins and eight defeats left them in 469th place. After the first three matches, both the players and the fans could have hoped that their dream of the play-offs would come true — but they couldn’t have been more wrong; after three wins came a wave of disappointment — three defeats in a row. They broke the unfortunate run with a single victory, only to embark on another disastrous run, this time even longer: five defeats in a row. They won their last two matches.

It is worth noting that this was the division’s first season in the ESEA competition. They have certainly gained valuable experience, which may well bear fruit as early as next season.

Firewolf Clan

For Firewolf Clan, this was their sixth consecutive season in the ESEA League and their sixth in a row in the ESEA Open. Firewolf also took part in seasons where there was no division into ESEA Open 1–8, Open 9 and Open 10. Although ‘six seasons’ is a bit of an exaggeration, as in the 50th season the players withdrew after just four matches. Today, however, we’re not talking about the 50th season, but the 52nd, in which they managed to qualify for the play-offs – specifically, Bracket B (the lower bracket).

Just like the Young Stars academy, they began their campaign with three wins and three defeats. The difference is that Firewolf broke their losing streak with two wins, only to lose one match again afterwards. Once again, they had a run of three wins in a row followed by two defeats. Ultimately, in the group stage, they managed to win 8 out of a possible 14 matches, giving them an 8-6 record and securing their place in the aforementioned play-offs.
It’s also worth noting that during the group stage, our partner had the opportunity to face teams such as HAVU and Monte Junior.

In the first round of the play-offs (upper bracket), they faced RedRhino (WSG), whom they managed to beat comfortably 2–0 across the maps. In the next round, they faced Ronins. Unfortunately, in that match, our partner had to concede defeat to their opponents and, following that match, dropped down to the losers’ bracket. Turbo Snails, Firewolf Clan’s opponent in the losers’ bracket, failed to turn up, and the Polish team won the match by walkover. They played their final match of the 52nd season of the ESEA Open against Skyfall eSports, losing 2–0 on maps.

And so Firewolf Clan’s campaign in the 52nd season of the ESEA Open came to an end. Following the conclusion of the tournament, posts on our partner’s official social media profiles indicated that changes were on the cards, with two players leaving the squad — but we’ll be covering that in future articles.

Gloris eSports

For Gloris eSports, Season 52 was their fourth consecutive season in the ESEA League. As with Firewolf Clan, all of these were in the Open division. During the group stage, we didn’t see any winning or losing streaks — as a result, Gloris eSports finished the group stage with a 7–7 record, which saw them qualify for the play-offs.
