The nature of the underground scene is such that it’s difficult to keep a team together for long. Many teams are typical ‘one-season wonders’ who play for a single Arrma season before disbanding, and the cycle starts all over again. There are plenty of such teams in the underground scene, but few expected ViBe Gaming’s story to unfold in this way. When they launched in May, the aim was to achieve success and, above all… a long-term project, which we mentioned when announcing that they were our new partner. Did they manage to pull it off? Not quite, though the team does have a few minor achievements to its name.
The end of an era for ViBe Gaming
The announcement of the split is still quite recent, as it was made only yesterday. However, the statement suggests that this isn’t the definitive end of ViBe Gaming on the Counter-Strike scene, but merely the closing of one chapter. Although the organisation is temporarily suspending its activities, it plans to return should it find the right five players. And in even stronger form. We’ll have to wait a little longer for the official search to begin, though who knows – perhaps talks are already underway and ViBe will surprise us with a quicker return than was the case with Hussars?
One thing is certain, however: the line-up in which they played:
- 🇵🇱 Kaikss
- 🇵🇱 FAF1Q
- 🇵🇱 Mofy
- 🇵🇱 Flownzera
- 🇵🇱 Mlodyy
achieved several notable successes. Their performance in the first, trial edition of the Feather Cup was particularly memorable. In the play-offs, ViBe Gaming first defeated Lunacy Gaming in the quarter-finals, then overcame Nisla Rakov in the semi-finals, before eventually losing to Gloris eSports in the final. Finishing second in the test tournament, which was designed to attract ambitious teams from the underground scene, showed that ViBe were no fluke.
Their path to Army Rising is also worth noting. In the play-offs, they began with a walkover victory against Find Success, who failed to appear on the server. They then played a fairly challenging match against PolacyPL, which they eventually managed to win 2–1. The decisive step towards promotion came without them even having to play, as their rivals from The Baiters also failed to turn up for the match, which sealed ViBe’s success.
Time for a fresh start?
Perhaps these weren’t successes on a par with those of the big organisations. But within the context of the underground scene, ViBe Gaming showed that they can compete against tough opponents. Each player had their moments that caught the eye and offered hope for the team’s future development. However, ultimately, there was perhaps something missing from this line-up. I wasn’t privy to the details behind this decision, but one thing is certain… ViBe has left a clear mark. And if it returns to the scene soon, it will certainly want to do so with even greater impact.
