The arrmy finals weekend is fast approaching, and with it we’ll find out which teams are the best of the sixteenth season. However, in recent days, crucial playoff matches have been played, with a place in the LAN finals at stake. Several of our partners were in contention for a spot in the decisive stage. That’s why we’re taking a look at how they fared in the most important matches of the season. Unfortunately, apart from Vandals Clan, none of the other teams managed to secure promotion. Among others, NPK II, Visionary and Nisla Rakov played their matches. Constrict Gaming, however, decided to forfeit their match due to squad issues.
arrmy play-offs: no promotion for our partners. NPK II, Visionary and Nisła Raków bow out
NPK II were the first to take to the server, competing in the Open division play-offs. Their opponents were Legions Esport, and victory in this match would have given them the chance to continue their fight for the top honours. Unfortunately, the very first map showed that progression would be extremely difficult. On Anubis, selected by Legions Esport, NPK II had to concede defeat to their rivals with a score of 7–13. The second map of the match looked considerably worse. Ancient may have been NPK II’s pick, but their own choice did not go at all as the team had hoped. Legions Esport took complete control of the match and closed out the map with a scoreline of 1–13. Thus, NPK II saw their campaign in the current arrmy season come to an end against their very first opponent in the play-offs.
The match between Visionary and XCVV in the Rising division provided a little more excitement. A place in the LAN finals was also at stake, so both teams had to go all out from the very start. The first map, Ancient, was XCVV’s pick and ended in an 8–13 victory for their opponents. Visionary, however, had no intention of throwing in the towel. On their own pick, Nuke, they managed to force a draw after an incredibly long and evenly matched battle. It took several overtime rounds to decide the outcome, and ultimately Visionary triumphed 22–19.
Everything was therefore to be decided on Mirage. Unfortunately, the decider once again went to XCVV, who won 9–13 and sealed their progression. Visionary can only regret that, after a brilliant battle on Nuke, they failed to seal the deal. In the Rising division, we also had Constrict Gaming, though their match did not take place under standard conditions. The team is still struggling to find a fifth player, which is why they ultimately decided to forfeit the match to 95 Vikings.
The last of our partners in the play-offs was Nisla Rakov, who faced off against Do Chrzanu. Here, too, two maps were needed to decide the winner, but unfortunately neither went our partner’s way. On Anubis, which was Nisła’s choice, the opponents won 9–13. The contest then moved to Nuke, selected by Do Chrzanu. Nisła tried once again to put up a fight, but ultimately lost 10–13. The 0–2 result therefore marks the end of their participation in this season’s arrmy.
Vandals Clan are Superion.gg’s sole partner in the LAN finals
We now have a complete picture of our partners’ situation ahead of the upcoming arrma LAN finals. Unfortunately, the play-offs proved extremely challenging for most of the teams in the Superion.gg partner programme. NPK II failed to get past their first opponent in the Open division. After an extremely close match, Visionary had to concede defeat to XCVV. Meanwhile, Nisla Rakov ended their series with a 0–2 result. Added to this is Constrict Gaming, who forfeited their match due to squad issues.
This means that during the arrmy LAN finals, we will see only one representative from our partner programme. That team is Vandals Clan, who had already secured their place through their dominance in the Masters division’s regular season. They will be the team we’ll be watching particularly closely over the final weekend, hoping for a strong performance as they battle for the ultimate victory.
