The group stage of the Arrmy Open, Rising and Masters tournaments in Season 14 has officially come to an end. As a result, we now know which teams have qualified for the play-offs and which have been left out. Before we let you in on this secret, let’s take a look at who’s competing in Arrmy, who’s in Rising, and who’s in Arrmy Masters, to give you a clearer picture of the situation.

In this article, we won’t be going into detail about our partners’ matches. We’ll focus only on those that weren’t covered in the last article. First up is the Open division. Below are links to our articles covering the group stage of this division.

Losers’ bracket = more excitement?

Not everyone may be aware of this, but the organiser has decided to introduce a losers’ bracket to the Open division. In the upper bracket, all matches apart from the promotion match will be played in a Best of 1 format, rather than all being Best of 3 as before. The promotion match in the upper bracket will be played in a Best of 3 format. In the lower bracket, all matches will be played in a Best-of-3 format.

The top 16 from the upper bracket will be promoted to Army Rising. The top 8 teams from the lower bracket will also qualify, and the Rising league itself will be expanded to 40 teams. The league will be divided into two groups of 20 teams each: Rising A and Rising B. Eight teams from each group will advance to the play-offs. In the Rising League, first and second place are rewarded with direct promotion to the Masters League. Third place leads to the play-offs, whilst fourth place secures a slot in the closed qualifiers.

Open Division

Constrict Gaming finished top of the Arrmy Open S14 group stage.

As for the Snakes, we last left them in Round 6. Our partner dominated the last four matches of the group stage – and I mean ‘dominated’ with a capital ‘D’. In the four matches played, the Snakes conceded just nine rounds. In Round 7, they beat Młode Pokolenie Starców 13–1 on Nuke. They then won 13–3 against Ostrovia Esports, also on Nuke. On the same map, on 16 December, they faced Cave Esport Team. That match ended with the same score. On the same day, they concluded the group stage with a match against Shadow Five. Here, the map was different, as was the score, but the winner remained the same – Constrict Gaming.

Constrict Gaming finished the group stage in first place. They played ten matches, winning them all, with a round difference of 94. In the first round of the upper bracket, they will face Ostrovia Esports.

No play-offs for Team Fairus…

The second partner on our list in this league is Team Fairus. In their case, we stopped at the fifth round. There was no “WOW” effect, as with Constrict Gaming’s results, but the outlook is positive nonetheless. On 8 December, our partner took on Fragzone on Ancient. They managed to win the match 13–3. Shortly after that match (10 December), they faced Passion PL. Unfortunately, our partner had to taste defeat once again in this league. Although it was a close contest, they lost 9–13 on dust2.

A day later, a match against “Beka Z Klanu” was due to take place. The opponents failed to appear on the server, and our partner won by walkover. A week ago, Team Fairus likely suffered their most crushing defeat of the year. On Overpass, against “Inkusp”, they didn’t win a single round, losing 0–13. Against Papa Jacos, they forfeited the match.

Unfortunately, with performances like this, our partner failed to qualify for the play-offs. They finished in exactly 212th place. To qualify for the play-offs, you need to finish at least 128th. It’s difficult to make it to the play-offs with a record of 5 wins and 5 defeats. Besides, the gap is quite wide, so there’s no question of bad luck here. As some people like to say, ‘you reap what you sow’, and this time Team Fairus certainly didn’t have a good night’s sleep.

Victoria Nostra with just one defeat…

We’ve only covered four matches for this partner, for which we sincerely apologise. When several tournaments and leagues overlap, it’s difficult to cover every single match. That said, you haven’t missed out on much, as ViNO’s most recent matches have all been walkovers – fortunately, in our partner’s favour. The oldest unreported match was played by our partner on 19 December, against Maczety Gejming. Our partner handled their opponent on Nuke with ease. They won the match 13–6. The next match did not take place. Solity Esport failed to appear on the server.

The 13th December was certainly an unlucky day, as our partner lost the match 10–13 to AWT E-Sports. This time on Ancient. In the next match, against ECLYPSE, there was a walkover for both sides (0–0). On 17 December, Victoria were due to face Lugltaaldo and PSK Gaming. Neither of these matches took place for one simple reason: the opponents did not turn up on the server.

As we mentioned earlier, Victoria Nostra finished in 31st place at the end of the group stage of Season 14 of the Arrmy Open. Just one defeat, with a positive round difference (45). According to our calculations, the first round of the upper bracket should feature a clash between two teams from the same group. Victoria Nostra will host Team Reacon (7–3 record). Assuming that all the teams that qualified for the play-offs will take part, which is not certain.

Debut season for the VoFoxen academy

As for the young foxes, we’ve covered their first six matches. When we looked at the four matches we hadn’t covered, our reaction to the results was similar to that for Constrict Gaming. The young foxes dominated every opponent in their path over the last four rounds (well, perhaps with one exception). First, they won 13–4 against “Łuszczyca Team” on Ancient. Incidentally, we’d say that’s a cool name, if we didn’t know what psoriasis is.

In their next clash, against PlantowaGang, the opposition had little to offer. On Ancient, the foxes gave them no chance, winning yet another match, this time 13–2. In the penultimate round of the group stage, VoFoxen Rising faced off against Maczety Gejming. It was an opponent that Victoria Nostra had also managed to beat (13–6). It was no different for “VoFoxen Rising”, who also won, albeit by a slightly wider margin of 13–4, on Mirage. Despite such a strong run in the group stage so far, the young foxes were given a reality check. This reality check came courtesy of Pulp Fragers, who swept our partner off the map, winning 13–1 on Ancient.

Looking at the tables, VoFoxen Rising are not much lower than the aforementioned Victoria Nostra. Although the Foxes have one more defeat to their name, they are only two places lower. Their overall record stands at 8 wins and 2 defeats, with a round difference of +42. Provided no one withdraws from the play-offs, VoFoxen Rising will face “Kiedyś Miałem Team” in the first round of the play-offs. Their opponents have a record of 7-3.

NPK Esport – was it a close call?

As for this partner and this line-up, we stopped at the sixth round. Since then, NPK’s main line-up has won two matches and lost the next two. First, a 9–13 defeat to “REVENGE” on nuke. Then a 13–10 win against “Cart00n”, also on de_nuke. On 16 December, they were due to face “EZSA E-sport”. The opposition failed to turn up on the server, so our team won by walkover. Their final group stage match was against “Veterans”. Had they managed to win that match, there would have been a good chance of reaching the play-offs. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and our partner lost 10–13 on Mirage.

128 teams will advance to the play-offs. NPK finished their fourteenth season with a 6-4 record, which is usually not enough to qualify for the play-offs. Their round record was also not particularly encouraging, with only two rounds in the black. This put them in 147th place in the group stage. Had their round record been at least 20, they would have finished in 128th place and qualified for the play-offs.

The second squad ranked higher than the first…

Sometimes it happens that academies or second teams achieve better results or play better CS than the first team. Will we see a reshuffle of the line-ups at NPK after this season? We don’t know that, but we do know one thing: NPK’s second squad is ranked higher than the first. As for the second squad’s run in the group stage, we stopped at the fourth round. Although this result is down to walkovers. As many as 50 per cent of the group stage results involving NPK’s second team were walkovers in our partner’s favour.

The match in Round 5 featuring NPK II was a real thriller. They faced off against ‘Biggas’ at the Ancient. It took extra time to decide the winner of this match. Extra time which our partner won. The match ultimately ended with a score of 19–17. The term ‘walkover’ will crop up quite frequently in this section of the article. In the 6th round, the opposition (“Łomża Squad”) failed to appear on the server. The players representing “Młode Pokolenie Starców” had already logged onto the server, but our partner seemed to be nowhere to be seen. A 6–13 defeat on Ancient. NPK II’s last three rounds have all been walkover wins.

In the end, a bit of luck was enough to secure a place in the play-offs. NPK Esport’s second team is ranked 122nd, with a record of 7–3 and a round difference of –12. A low position means a low seeding. This means that NPK II won’t have an easy task in the play-offs, and a win would be a surprise. According to our calculations, they will face “Atmosferka”. That team is in 7th place with a record of 9-1.

Just two defeats for Gloris eSports

Gloris eSports have also had their fair share of walkovers. The difference, however, is that these walkovers were just a bonus. Even without them, Gloris would likely have qualified for the knockout stage anyway. Mind you, sometimes you have to give luck a helping hand. On 9 December, just such a walkover occurred in their clash with Inkusp. The “Young and Angry” had already appeared on the server, and on 12 December the two teams faced off on Mirage. Their opponents will probably want to forget this match; they only managed to win two rounds. The match against Finding Elo went to overtime. Gloris have turned to the Polish map – Mirage – quite often this season. It was no different in this match, though unlike the previous encounter, the result was a defeat. Finding Elo won the match 19–16. They managed to end the group stage on a high note with a 13–6 victory over “Beka z Klanu”. Mirage was also the map for this match.

Gloris eSports lost only two matches in the group stage: 3–13 against Constrict Gaming and 16–19 against Finding Elo. Their strong form in the group stage saw them finish 55th in the group stage. This position should mean a mid-table opponent. They are set to face Elita Elity Elit, who are ranked 74th. Their opponents have a 7–3 record.

The academy in second place

It could be said that the academy squad is performing better than the main squad. The fact that Vandals currently have no main CS2 roster is a minor detail. They dominated “PSK Gaming” 13–1 on Ancient. A similar result came against “OG Gooners”, where the opponent won just two rounds on Mirage. A second consecutive Mirage victory followed. This was against “Pulpfraggers”, who, admittedly, won more rounds than the Vandals’ previous two opponents combined, but it was still a defeat. In the clash against “Wolnymid”, Mirage featured again and another victory was secured, this time with a score of 13–9. Our partner concluded the group stage with a win, a walkover against Cigan Tango.

Their more than solid form translated into a record of 10 wins and 0 defeats. Their round record stood at 65. Only three teams finished this season’s group stage undefeated: Constrict Gaming, Weneryczne chłopaki and Vandals Protect. Thanks to the second-best round record, Vandals Protect finished in second place, just behind Constrict Gaming. If we’re not mistaken (and we probably are), Vandals Protect will face ‘Papiescy Entry Fraggers’, who have a 6-4 record. I think we know who the favourites are in this clash.

Play-off prospects

As with NPK II Esport, winning matches by walkover certainly helped secure a place in the play-offs. Nevertheless, it seems to us that walkovers have become a hallmark of the Arrma league, and this is not our partner’s fault. On 6 December, such a walkover occurred in the match against “Into The Beach”. It was a similar story in the ‘clash’ with ‘Syles Esport’ – the opponent failed to appear on the server. “Kom0rnicy” did turn up, though judging by the name, we’re afraid we have to add “unfortunately”. The name was almost as dreadful as the result of that match, from the perspective of Visionary’s fans. An 11–13 defeat on Ancient. After the loss and a few walkovers, it was time to face “EO Esports”. The match was played on Inferno, which went to our partner, 13–10. Our partner ended the group stage with a defeat, also on Inferno, but against “UnluckyTeam”.

Visionary finished in 100th place in the group stage. Their win-loss record stands at 7–3, with a round difference of +11. They are set to face “Pulp Fraggers”, who are in 29th place with a record of 8–2 and a round difference of +49. Our partner isn’t the favourite in this match, so we wish them the best of luck.

High ranking despite squad issues

It was only a few days ago that Lunacy Gaming announced their new players, and for part of the group stage they played with an incomplete starting line-up. Despite this, they managed to secure a high position in the group stage of Season 14 of the Arrmy Open. Their 13–0 victory over “Stellstars” on Overpass is impressive. “Thai Krypto” managed to win only three rounds on Mirage. “CBŚ” finished Mirage with just one round. The final match of the group stage was probably the most evenly matched in recent times (apart from LHG), although it did not go to overtime. Lunacy Gaming won 13–10 on Mirage.

Highly placed, in 4th, thanks to 9 wins and just 1 defeat, against “Ostrovia Esports”, who only just made it into the play-offs. In the first round of the upper bracket of the play-offs, Lunacy Gaming are set to face “AWT E-sports”, who are also in 4th place, but from the bottom (#125). Six wins and four defeats – that’s the record of Lunacy’s first opponent in the Arrmy Open Season 14 play-offs.

A solid performance from Carpathian Roja

Dust2 was the map for the clash between Carpathian Roja and NWW Esports. Ultimately, our partner won the match 13–9. “BHL” failed to appear on the server on 15 December, and our partner won by walkover. “Bambiki” did turn up on the server, though their performance didn’t suggest they were really there. Nuke ended with a 13–6 victory for our partner. Carpathian finished the group stage on a high note with a 13–10 win over Team Vipers on Dust2.

Carpathian recorded 3 defeats and 7 wins in this season’s group stage. This saw them finish 88th in the group stage, thanks to a respectable round difference of +22. Carpathian Roja are set to face “Detonators". Their opponents finished in 41st place, with a round difference of +34 and a win-loss record of 8-2.

The first team are playing in the play-offs, but what about the academy?

We’ll spoil it for you: they aren’t playing. Since our last article, Visionary Veil have played just one match, and it’s not as though their recent matches have been walkovers. As it happened, Visionary Veil were the subject of a separate article covering their run in the group stage, and at that point they simply hadn’t yet played Matchday 10. They ended the group stage with a disappointing 8–13 defeat to ‘JS Clan’ on dust2.

They were not far off the play-offs, as Visionary Veil finished in 134th place. Six wins and four defeats would have been enough, had it not been for their low round differential of +11.

TW E-sports / ex-Fairus Youngsters

TW E-sports is our newest partner when it comes to teams. They began their campaign in the 14th season of the Arrmy Open with a win, and in fine style at that – 13–3 against ‘Ram Riders’. Two days after that match, our partner was due to play another. However, this did not happen, as the opponent failed to appear on the server, and our partner was awarded a walkover in their clash with “Specjalisci77”.

Similar results were seen in the matches against “Spel Esports” and “R3NT4”. On 5 December, the clash with “Solity Esport” took place, with “Train” as the map. Ultimately, our partner tasted defeat for the first time this season, losing 8–13. Exactly a week ago, they bounced back with another victory, this time against “WC Knury” on Inferno, with a score of 13–6. Unfortunately, they failed to secure any valuable points in their match against “Kruliczki”. TW E-sports’ performance left a lot to be desired, as the result clearly shows. Our partner managed to win only four rounds on Nuke. They managed to win one more round against “Maczety Gejming” on Inferno. They ended the group stage on a positive note with a 13–8 victory over “Integeniuses” on Nuke.

TW E-sports finished the group stage in 102nd place. Their win-loss record stands at 7-3, with a round difference of +10. In the first round of the play-offs, they are set to face “SkuteBerety”. Their opponents finished in 27th place, with a win-loss record of 8-2 and a round difference of +48. TW E-sports are certainly not the favourites for this match.

VoFoxen Oldboys

In Arrmy’s lowest division, we also saw VoFoxen Oldboys in action. As the name suggests, the entire roster was made up of 4FUN members, including the project’s owner, Cie$la. The team did not qualify for the play-offs, but interestingly, when compared to other partners, they are not the lowest-ranked squad in Arrmy Open S14. In their match against “skokMacioryWpomidory”, our partner did not lose a single round.

A final look at the Arrmy Open play-offs

Assigned opponents may vary. We’re assuming that all teams in the top 128 will take part in the play-offs, but if even one does not, the seeding will change, so the official bracket will be announced in the coming days. Please treat the opponents listed below as our predictions.

Arrmy Rising

As many as four partners took part in Arrmy Rising: Nexium POLteam, VoFoxen, Nisła Raków and Hussars. Only one of these teams failed to progress to the next stage.

VoFoxen’s main squad on a knife-edge

As for VoFoxen’s main squad, in our last article we covered their matches up to Round 7. Since then, our partner has played three matches, including a crucial one against Hussars that would decide their progression. Ultimately, VoFoxen won that match 13–6 on Nuke, which decided who would progress to the next phase. Even before the clash with Hussars, VoFoxen had faced ‘Paraolimpiada’ on Inferno. They lost that match 4–13. On the final day, they were due to face Armitra, but the latter have been without a squad for some time, resulting in a 1–0 walkover for our partner.

If our calculations are correct, VoFoxen face a real challenge. In the quarter-finals of the Arrmy Rising play-offs, they will face Horizon Esports, who finished top of the group stage this season, losing just once.

The battle for the play-offs between partners

The match against Paraolimpiada took place at roughly the same time as VoFoxen’s clash with Paraolimpiada. The outcome was different in both cases, however, as Hussars managed to secure a win. The score on dust2 was 13–6. Following this match, we were treated to the clash between the partners we’d mentioned earlier. Hussars lost 6–13 to VoFoxen and ended the group stage with a 2–13 defeat to MIX123 on Ancient.

In the end, Hussars finished in 12th place. We would like to remind you that the top eight qualify for the play-offs. Four wins and six defeats, with a round difference of -16, were not enough to secure a place in the play-offs this season.

Nisła on the rise

As with our other partners, we’ve been reporting on the first seven rounds. Their clash with Neproser (Round 8) went to overtime. After that single overtime period, Nisła came out on top, winning 16–14 on Mirage. Following such a closely fought match, our partner’s players moved on to the next server, where Paraolimpiada and Dust2 awaited them. Ultimately, the match ended in a 11–13 defeat for our partner. Nisła concluded the group stage with a 1–0 walkover victory against Made In Poland.

ArrmytRising’s consistent form resulted in 6 wins and 4 defeats, with a round difference of -5. This secured our partner sixth place, which qualifies them for the play-offs. In the quarter-finals, they are set to face another of our partners, Nexium POLteam.
