As the ESEA season progresses, each passing day brings further clarity regarding the teams’ true form. Following the opening fixtures and the early stages of the season, we reach a point where results begin to stabilise. Teams either confirm their ambitions or are forced to face the harsh reality of the league battle. Every subsequent match is not just about points on the table, but also a test of preparation, mental fortitude and the ability to win crucial rounds.
Last week did not disappoint in terms of excitement… We saw tight maps ending with a minimal round difference, and overtime matches decided only after a dozen or so extra rounds. However, there were also matches in which one side was able to clearly assert its dominance. For some teams, this was a step in the right direction; for others, another reminder that CS does not forgive mistakes.
In our previous article, we merely outlined who is competing in which division and how the first rounds went. Now we return with a more complete picture of events. We summarise our partners’ subsequent matches and check how they are faring in the Open, Entry, Intermediate and Main divisions.
A week full of battles in every division
The past few days have brought our partners a wide range of results. We’ve seen teams confirming their good form and scoring consistently. On top of that, there are teams locked in tight battles right down to the final rounds. However, there were also those who had to swallow the bitter pill of defeat or lost a match off-server. Below, we take a detailed look at all the matches played since the last round-up.
ESEA Open9
TW E-Sports
The only team in this division is TW E-Sports, who have had a very solid week. They managed to win both of their matches, though neither was an easy one. The first match ended in a 13-10 victory against HATEFUL on the Nuke map. The match was evenly balanced from the very start, and the round difference remained minimal for a long time. However, TW E-Sports kept their cool in the closing stages, which allowed them to close out the map in their favour. The clash with SixSeven, played on Anubis, was a little more fiercely contested. The 13:11 result perfectly reflects the course of the match, in which both sides had their moments. Ultimately, TW E-Sports performed better in the crucial rounds, adding further valuable points to their tally.
ESEA Open10
YNG SKiLLZ
Unfortunately, it was another difficult week for YNG SKiLLZ, ending in two defeats and preventing the team from breaking their losing streak.
The first match against Silent Reapers on the Ancient map ended in an 11-13 defeat, and the match itself remained very evenly balanced for a long time. Both teams regularly traded blows, and the score hovered around a draw, which promised an exciting finish. In the decisive rounds, however, it was the Silent Reapers who proved more effective, making better use of their opportunities and closing out the map by the narrowest of margins.
Things were much tougher in the second clash, played on Nuke against solventa. The 3:13 defeat shows that YNG SKiLLZ failed to find their rhythm, whilst their opponents set a high tempo from the very start and controlled the course of the match. The lack of space to spread out quickly translated into a growing deficit of rounds, which they were unable to make up.
Lunacy NXT
Lunacy NXT, on the other hand, can count this week as a great success, recording two wins and clearly demonstrating their consistency, particularly on one well-known map.
The first match against KAITANKIVOI, played on Inferno, ended in a 13-10 victory. The match was evenly matched from the very start, with neither side able to build a comfortable lead. Lunacy NXT, however, consistently stuck to their game plan, performing better in the crucial rounds and holding on to a narrow lead right until the end.
The second clash, again played on Inferno, brought another victory. This time, a 13-11 win against Red Rebels. Here too, the outcome of the map hung in the balance until the final rounds, with the pressure mounting with every exchange. Lunacy NXT once again demonstrated composure and consistency, which proved decisive in the closing stages and allowed them to end the week with a clean sweep of victories.
Visionary
Unfortunately, Visionary played only one match this week, which ended in a walkover defeat. According to information available in the match lobby, hadess did not appear on the server, resulting in the match being cancelled and the victory awarded to the opponent. This is a painful loss of points, which was not directly related to gameplay on the server.
Carpathian Roja
Carpathian Roja played just one match this week, but it was undoubtedly one of the most thrilling encounters in the entire division.
The clash against FIERCE on the Inferno map ended in a 19-16 victory after a fierce overtime. Even during regular time, both teams were evenly matched, not allowing their opponent to build a clear lead. The result remained in the balance for a long time, leading to the need for extra rounds.
The excitement reached its peak in the extra rounds… The teams were neck and neck for a long time, and every round could have decided the final outcome. Ultimately, it was Carpathian Roja who showed greater mental resilience and better pressure management, which allowed them to tip the scales in their favour and end the match with a win.
ESEA Entry
Saturlity Esport
The only other team in this division, Saturlity Esport, continue their excellent run and have added another two wins to their tally. The first came as a walkover against AQUA, which automatically secured them full points without having to play. The second match has already been played on the server and ended in a confident 13-6 victory against BUHM on Dust 2. Saturlity controlled the map from the start, systematically building a lead and not allowing their opponents to get back into the match.
ESEA Intermediate
VoFoxen
In the Intermediate division, VoFoxen played just one match this week, but it proved to be a thrilling affair. Unfortunately for the team, it ended in defeat after extra time.
The match against the Polish side Twins, played on Nuke, was extremely even from the very first rounds. Neither team could tip the balance in their favour for a long time, and the score remained very close throughout regular time. Ultimately, overtime was needed to decide the winner. Unfortunately, in the extra rounds, Twins made better use of their opportunities and kept their cool in the crucial moments, which resulted in a final score of 14:16. For VoFoxen, it was a painful defeat, especially as the match remained open right until the very end.
Victoria Nostra
Victoria Nostra also had to concede defeat to their opponents in overtime this week, despite a very evenly matched contest.
The match against Neds, played at Mirage, ended in a 13-16 defeat. From the opening rounds, both teams were evenly matched, regularly responding to their opponents’ plays and preventing either side from building a clear lead. The result remained in the balance for a long time, leading to the need for extra rounds. In the extra rounds, Neds proved more effective at crucial moments, capitalising better on their opponents’ mistakes. Unfortunately for Victoria Nostra, this was also a painful defeat, particularly as the final outcome was decided by small details and individual rounds.
Lunacy Gaming
However, Lunacy Gaming are the only team in the Intermediate division to boast a victory this week, which showed that the team can impose their own rhythm of play and effectively control the map.
The match against Team Solis on Nuke ended in a 13-6 victory. From the very start, it was Lunacy Gaming who dictated the pace, consistently executing their plan and minimising mistakes. Their opponents had only brief moments in which they tried to respond, but the team controlled both halves and the crucial rounds at the end. A comfortable lead and composed play allowed Lunacy Gaming to maintain the initiative throughout the match and finish it with a decisive victory.
ESEA Main
Nexium POLteam
As was the case in the Intermediate division, many teams in the Main division played just one match this week. For Nexium POLteam, it was unfortunately a difficult encounter that ended in defeat.
The match against Qual4 on the Ancient map ended with a score of 6:13. From the very first rounds, the opponent dictated the pace, controlling key moments and forcing POLteam to react on the fly. Nexium POLteam’s attempts to seize the initiative did not yield the desired results, and the opponent effectively capitalised on every advantage, preventing them from spreading their wings and making up for their losses. The result clearly shows that the team is looking for a way to fully realise its potential at the highest level.
Constrict Gaming
Constrict Gaming, on the other hand, had two matches to play this week, and both ended in victories, demonstrating good form and the ability to control the flow of the map.
The first match against CSGOPOSITIVE on Overpass ended in a 13-11 win. The match was evenly balanced throughout, with neither side able to establish a clear advantage. Constrict Gaming, however, kept their cool in the crucial moments of the closing stages, effectively executing their game plan and securing the map victory.
The second clash against SweetRicers Basmati on Nuke was far more one-sided. The 13-4 victory demonstrates the team’s clear dominance. Constrict Gaming controlled the match from the outset, capitalising effectively on their opponents’ mistakes and not allowing any comebacks. This clash confirmed the team’s excellent form and a secure position in the table, as well as providing a strong finish to the week.
More clashes and new outcomes lie ahead
The past week has clearly shown that the competition in ESEA is heating up, and the margin for error is getting smaller with every round. Some teams are consistently building their position and confirming their good form. Others, however, are still searching for the best solutions or have to deal with issues not directly related to gameplay. The variety of results shows just how evenly matched the competition can be at every level of the tournament. Every subsequent match is not only a battle for points but also valuable experience that could pay off later in the season.
Of course, there are still plenty of matches left until the end of the regular season, and the standings may change many times over. We, however, will be keeping a close eye on our partners’ performances and will return with further summaries as soon as the next rounds bring new stories to tell.
