The Ascent Legacy Series qualifiers are entering a crucial phase and are becoming increasingly exciting. Although much attention is focused on the teams in the upper bracket, it is also worth taking a look at those still fighting to stay in the competition. Among them is Team Fairus. Our partners, who after a disappointing start are trying to bounce back in the lower bracket and remain in contention for a place in the main tournament. We also encourage you to follow the action in our coverage via the link below:
How is Fairus faring in the qualifiers?
Team Fairus 4:13 VoFoxen Esport | Mirage
Team Fairus’s first opponent in the Ascent Legacy Series qualifiers was VoFoxen Esport. We know both teams very well, as they are part of our partner programme. This match was played on the Mirage map and was dominated by VoFoxen from the start. Fairus tried to find their opportunities, but their opponents displayed a more organised game, which resulted in a decisive 4:13 victory. Thus, the Foxes could celebrate advancing further up the upper bracket. Fairus, on the other hand, had to accept their relegation to the lower half of the table.
Team Fairus 2:0 4 SPK
2x [1:0 | walkover]
For Fairus, however, this did not mark the end of their qualifying adventure. In the lower bracket, they faced 4 SPK. Although fans were hoping for a thrilling clash, reality turned out to be somewhat different… The match ended in a walkover in Fairus’s favour. The team was awarded a 2:0 victory, and the maps were recorded as 1:0 wins. Such outcomes are nothing out of the ordinary on the underground scene. Unfortunately, sometimes teams are unable to join the server, and a walkover is then the natural solution.
The battle for promotion continues
Thanks to this victory, Team Fairus remains in contention and still has a realistic chance of further promotion in the lower bracket. Although it is difficult to assess the team’s actual form at this stage, as one match ended in a quick defeat and the other in a walkover. However, the upcoming matches should give us a better picture of their capabilities. Fairus will now face Sportofcy, and early indications suggest that this clash may also end in a walkover, which once again opens the way for the team to continue in the competition. One thing is certain, however: Fairus remains in the running, and every subsequent match will be another test of character for them and an opportunity to prove their worth in the ALS qualifiers.
