After the first few weeks of competition in the 55th season of the ESEA Open, Team Fairus’s situation is raising more and more questions. In our previous article, where we discussed our partners in the Open division, we briefly mentioned the team’s first two matches. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the start of the season as a whole… Which, to put it mildly, hasn’t gone quite as Fairus would have liked. So what exactly happened in those four opening matches?
Problems right from the start? Team Fairus and their unusual start in ESEA
The first few weeks of the 55th ESEA Open season proved to be exceptionally difficult for Team Fairus. Although the team had ambitious plans for the start of the Open9 division, reality turned out to be quite different. The four scheduled matches ended without a single map being played. Unfortunately, all of them were forfeited.

To kick off the season, on Monday 6 October, the team was due to face the Czech side Team Ozralis. The match looked set to be a solid test to start with… However, for unknown reasons, Fairus failed to appear on the server, handing the first points to their opponents. Just two days later, on Wednesday 8 October, the situation repeated itself. Their opponent was Pelagos eSports from Belarus, who also secured a walkover victory. For the team’s fans, this was already a sign that something might not be working as it should.

Team Fairus [0:1] 🇹🇷 Global Noobs
The third match was scheduled for Monday 13 October. It was supposed to mark a turning point, this time against the French side AccrouPeek. Unfortunately, history repeated itself. Fairus once again failed to turn up, and further points went to their opponents. The run of unfortunate events came to an end with a clash against the Turkish team Global Noobs on Wednesday 15 October. Despite expectations for Fairus’s first appearance, the match ended before it had even begun… with yet another walkover.
Is there hope of a turnaround in the upcoming matches?
Four forfeited matches are certainly not the start the players and the team’s supporters were hoping for. However, the 55th season of ESEA is only just getting underway. Fairus still have a chance to turn the tide of the competition and return to the server with renewed vigour. If the team manages to stabilise their form and prepare for the upcoming matches, all signs suggest that the best is yet to come.
