VoFoxen are back on track in ESEA Intermediate

- -

The ESEA Intermediate season is currently at the halfway point. After their first three matches, VoFoxen were in serious trouble, having lost two games and won just one. We covered this in more detail in this article. Now, however, we have the results of the next three matches, and things are slowly heading in the right direction. Qualification for the play-offs, however, is still quite a long way off.

The losing streak continues…

The Foxes’ fourth match of this ESEA Intermediate season was a clash with the Turkish side Reality. The match took place on Overpass, a map where our partner has already made a name for themselves since its inclusion in the pool. Matches here, however, are very demanding and rarely go smoothly. This was certainly the case this time too. After the first half, VoFoxen had secured a narrow 7–5 lead and it seemed that victory would finally swing their way. The second half, however, was the complete opposite of the first. Problems on the attacking side – whether in terms of finishing or tactics – allowed the opposition to get back into the game. As a result, this lapse ended in our partner’s 11–13 defeat, marking their third loss of the season.

You’ve got to bounce back sometime

You’ve got to bounce back sometime… For VoFoxen, that bounce-back came in Round 5. That’s when they faced off against the Finnish side Team Disrupt. The map chosen for this clash was Mirage, which, like Overpass, is frequently picked by the Foxes. Here, once again, they managed to secure a two-round lead after the first half. However, it was, of course, the second half that proved decisive, and in it, our partner from the previous match found themselves in serious trouble. This time, though, on a different map, they dominated that half, winning the entire match 13–5 without dropping a single round after the sides switched.

An all-Polish clash!

Next up was a clash against Team Lopez; the name might not give it away, but they’re a Polish team. Usually, all-Polish matches have something interesting and unpredictable about them. This time was no different, although the map wasn’t Mirage, as is usually the case in such matches, but Nuke. The first half, however, gave us no real indication of who might come out on top in this clash, as it ended in a 6–6 draw. In the second half, however, VoFoxen showed that this match was meant to be theirs, and that’s exactly what happened. Our partner won the match 13–9, thereby levelling their record to 3–3. This, of course, means they have a bright future ahead of them this season and are in contention for promotion to ESEA Main.

When will VoFoxen be able to achieve a positive record?
