We’ve covered their previous matches in this tournament here. Today it’s time to bring the Arrmy Open play-offs to a close and talk about the match that decided it all. VoFoxen were knocked out in the fourth round of the bracket, losing 1–2 to Made in Poland. It was a match where the finer details made all the difference: economy after pistol rounds, individual clutch plays and discipline in the closing stages of the maps. The rivals started with their own pick, VoFoxen responded with theirs, and the decisive map was chosen after the bans. Below, we break down each of the three acts of this clash.
A tense and evenly matched start
The first part of the match immediately showed that both teams were well aware of what was at stake. Point-for-point exchanges, strong pushes and immediate responses — this was a clash in which neither team was prepared to let up. VoFoxen performed well in retakes and controlled the map’s space, but their rivals effectively capitalised on economic turning points to get back into the game. Unfortunately, the first map didn’t go the Foxes’ way, and they ultimately lost 17–19 on de_overpass.
Ch4mE1EoN and Szuti stood out in the statistics, shouldering the burden of eliminations, whilst .zeus contributed several crucial openings that allowed attacks to be launched with an advantage. In the decisive moments, however, Made in Poland kept their cool better, clinching the first half of the match in their favour.
A comeback and dominance in their own style
The second match on de_inferno (13:8) was a completely different story. VoFoxen looked like a transformed team — organised, consistent and responding brilliantly to every move their opponents made. The key factors here were control of key areas, patiently building up attacks and skilfully exploiting numerical advantages. The team played their own game: calm and methodical, but when necessary — aggressive and uncompromising.
This time, JeykeS led the way, racking up impressive stats and repeatedly seizing the initiative in crucial rounds. .zeus and Stich effectively supported the offence, whilst Szuti and Ch4mE1EoN held the rear, ensuring smooth rotations. This was the moment when VoFoxen proved that they could fully control the course of the match, provided everything went according to plan.
Minor mistakes, major consequences
The final stages of the match were a test of nerves and resilience under pressure. Both teams were already aware of each other’s weaknesses, and every mistake could prove very costly. VoFoxen had their moments of glory: a few superb defensive plays, bold interventions and good calls allowed them to stay in touch with the score. However, it was Made in Poland who were able to capitalise more effectively on turning points — both in attack and in defence.
Economy once again played a key role, and the lack of a single breakthrough in the closing stages meant that VoFoxen had to chase the score rather than control it. Although the match was fiercely contested, minor communication errors and a lack of luck in several key situations ultimately decided the final result. The 11–13 result on the final map, de_train, meant that VoFoxen ended their playoff run in the fourth round.
One step away from success, a new goal on the horizon
It was an intense evening and a painful end to this season’s Open League play-off campaign. VoFoxen are out in the fourth round, but not after a one-sided match. The first part showed just how evenly matched the teams were; the second — that this team can dominate if it finds its rhythm; and the third — that in esports, it is sometimes the unforeseeable details that make all the difference.
Unfortunately, they failed to secure promotion to Rising this season. However, this does not negate all their hard work — on the contrary, it sets a clear direction. If VoFoxen maintain discipline with their own picks, improve their consistency in the late game and work on capitalising on their advantages, they could return stronger in Season 14 of the Open. Their determination and the lessons learnt from this series should fuel them for the coming weeks. Now it’s time for a reset, training and… a second attempt. Perhaps next season will be the one in which the doors to Rising finally swing open.
