“Kizzzi” – coach of the Prime Bulls. In the interview, we asked him how he rates his team’s performances in “ESEA Intermediate” and “Arrmy Masters”. Towards the end of the article, he also mentioned that as a team they could spring a big surprise next year. We invite you to read on:
[R] Hello Kizzzi, please introduce yourself to our readers. What do you do on a daily basis?
Generally speaking, I work, but I won’t be revealing any details. I’d simply like to keep it anonymous where I work and exactly what I do.
[R] You finished the “Arrmy Masters” season in 4th place with a 5:3 record. Is that satisfying for you?
Is it satisfying for us? Well, to be honest, we don’t really attach much importance to Arrmy and we won’t be doing so. In fact, we’re considering not taking part in the competition at all next season. These are just initial thoughts and everything could still change.
[R] In the playoffs, unfortunately, you were knocked out in the first round, losing to Mollitiem. You’ve also had a few matches against that team in recent weeks. Are they clearly better than you? Or does it simply depend on how you’re performing on the day?
I think it’s a question of how we’re feeling at the time when it comes to the playoffs. Well, I won’t hide the fact that two of us had turned eighteen the day before. I think I’d just come home from a night shift at work, so we couldn’t exactly play under normal conditions. We’d recently beaten them soundly, I mean, when we were at bootcamp, and the lads played because I couldn’t, as I was banned. The lads were playing at 165 Hz on weak computers – I won’t hide the fact that they aren’t exactly top-notch. And we were playing with a stand-in, so you could say it was a 4-versus-5 game. Do I think they’re better? I don’t think so.
[R] Staying on the topic of the Arrmy platform. You recently had the chance to play in the Dreamedup Cup finals, which took place on Lana. There, you lost in the grand final on B2TG. Is there a sense of disappointment after that, and a belief that if things had gone differently, you would have come out on top?
There’s certainly a slight sense of disappointment after the final, but it’s very subtle, because in reality the match could have gone either way; we could have lost on Mirage and the match would have ended 2-0. One round decided that we’d take Inferno. Well, unfortunately, it didn’t work out, things turned out the way they did, but I think it’s motivation to keep training.
[R] Staying on the subject of LAN play. Do you feel more comfortable playing online or on LAN?
I think we definitely play much better at a LAN event. Obviously, everyone has things to do at home – household chores, or a girlfriend, wife, mum, or whoever else. But when playing at home, there are these so-called distractions. Well, at a LAN event, there are no such distractions. Everyone is fully focused and we definitely feel much better playing at the LAN.
[R] Moving on to the ESEA tournaments. You finished the ‘ESEA Intermediate’ season with a 10-4 record. In the playoffs, you did reasonably well, but in the lower bracket you lost to Mollitiem again. How would you rate your performance this season?
Well, I reckon we were incredibly unlucky this season. We went 10-4 in the regular season, but those three defeats came after extra time, so we could actually have won those three matches. And unfortunately, I couldn’t take part in the fourth match, and I remember that one of our players had some technical issues. In the playoffs, we were just one match away from ‘ESEA Main’. In the first match in the upper bracket for ‘ESEA Main’, we had a situation where our opponents declared they wanted to change the date. Because of this, Miko, who lives in Austria, came to Poland simply to visit his family. While he was in Poland, however, our opponents changed their minds and didn’t want to agree on a specific date with us regarding rescheduling the match. And unfortunately, we had to play with a stand-in, and after a close match, we lost. Then we played a match to stay in the lower bracket. As I’ve already said, I unfortunately couldn’t play because I was banned on Faceit, so we played with a stand-in, Bylk, who was complaining that he had a fever. But we managed to persuade him somehow and the lads played from the arena. As I mentioned earlier, there was 165 Hz there and the computers weren’t great.
[R] You’re currently taking part in the Galaxy Cup tournament. How do you rate your chances of winning?
I reckon that when it comes to the Galaxy Cup, first place is really the only option. I’ll certainly be surprised if we don’t manage to win.
[R] What do you think of the current state of CS2?
I think Valve could put a bit more effort into CS, because it has huge potential to be a much better game. There are a lot of flaws and certain bugs.
[R] You take on two roles in the team: sniper and IGL. Isn’t that a heavy burden, and doesn’t it limit the team in some way?
I don’t think it limits my team; rather, it limits me to some extent, because the IGL role certainly focuses attention not only on shooting but also on managing the game. I think it might limit my role as a sniper more. I don’t think it limits my teammates at all, and it’s also a plus that I can tailor the game to my own style rather than if someone else were the IGL.
[R] How are things going with your training? How many times a week do you train as a team, and for how long?
As for training, things have been a bit tight for us recently because we’ve had a few away trips. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit how much we train, though, but the plan for the new year is to spend somewhere around 20 hours a week training as a team.
[R] And how much do you train individually?
How much do I train individually? Well, I try to set aside at least an hour every day for some deathmatches, or if not, a quick demo. I try to dedicate that hour every day.
[R] Thank you for the interview and good luck with your future challenges. Would you like to say hello to anyone? Add anything else?
The only thing I’d like to add is that I think we might surprise a lot of people in the new year, and some won’t even be able to imagine how we might surprise them. Something very big is in the pipeline. I think our achievements will be very significant too. Thank you very much for the interview, and best regards.
