We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Justin, a player from Firewolf Clan. We learnt a few interesting things. See for yourselves! We hope you’ll learnt plenty of interesting things too. So let’s get on with the interview.
You recently played a match against Niśle Raków in the second round of the ARRMY Open S11 playoffs. First of all, congratulations on the 2-1 win in the BO5 – how’s the mood after the match?
The mood after the match was very good; we felt confident from the start and knew that the second map would be the most important, so we went into the third map with confidence – everyone was fired up, which made for a great atmosphere.
As we know, you’ve also recently qualified for the ESEA Open S11 playoffs. Given that you’re at the same stage in the ARRMY league, which competition is currently your priority?
As you know, the ESEA competition is more important, but qualifying for Rising is just as important. Currently, our main priority is ESEA, and that’s where we’re focusing most of our efforts.
What’s the atmosphere like in Firewolf Clan at the moment?
At the moment, the atmosphere is very good; everyone feels at ease, which means everyone is playing well in this line-up.
Some time ago, an important member of the team left you – Lisu, who was your IGL. Now that some time has passed, how would you sum up the change in that position? Are you happy with it?
Overall, the change has been very positive. An experienced player joined us who has significantly improved various aspects of our gameplay, which is why the team’s results are getting better and better. I’m very happy with this change myself, and it’s clear that it’s helped us reach a higher level.
What are your plans regarding Firewolf Clan? Are you trying not to look too far ahead, or are you planning any changes in your career soon?
I believe my time with Firewolf Clan will continue for a while yet, but I’m not ruling out changes in my career. At the moment, I feel at home here and this is the team I want to play for.
Do you think there’s anything else you’re still missing at Firewolf Clan?
I think the most important thing that needs improving is our mental game; there are situations where our mental game drops during a match, but recently this has started to improve, meaning everyone is playing at full throttle. Personally, I’m really driven by the ‘fire up’ during matches, and because of that I feel I can give even more of myself during the game.
Who do you work best with on the team?
At the moment, there isn’t anyone on the team I don’t work well with, so I think I work well with everyone. The most important thing that keeps Firewolf Clan together is the high level of professionalism within the team, constant communication, helping each other out, a shared goal we’re striving for, and constant hard work and commitment.
What was your personal goal for 2024 and did you manage to achieve it? What goals have you set for the new year?
My goal for 2024 was definitely the esports ranking, at least the ESEA playoffs and promotion to Rising. My goal for next year is to move up a league in ESEA if we don’t manage it this season, and to compete for the Masters if we do manage to get promoted to Rising; I’d also like to attend LAN events and the annual bootcamps.
You’re currently 48th in the CYBERSPORT rankings – do you think that’s a fair position, or should you be higher?
I think we should be a bit higher in the rankings, but I reckon we’ll keep climbing.
What made you decide to compete in Counter-Strike?
I’ve been playing CS since I was 10; the Polish VP team was a big inspiration – I always looked up to them and wanted to be like them, playing on the big stages and having fun at the same time.
What are your expectations for the future of Counter-Strike 2 and your team’s role in that scene?
Looking ahead, this is definitely something I’d like to do in the future; I’d very much like to get as far as possible with this team, but above all, I’m focused on continuous development.
Once again, we’d like to thank Justin for agreeing to this interview, and we hope he’s sparked some interest with his rather interesting comments.
