Armitra Esports in the race for the Galaxy Cup play-offs

- -

We’re slowly approaching the end of the first phase of the Galaxy Cup, and the excitement is at its peak. This is the perfect moment to take a closer look at how Armitra Esports are getting on. In previous articles, we focused on their academy and their first appearance in the tournament. Today, however, we’ll go back a few rounds and trace the path they’ve taken to get to where they are now. We’ll also look at the challenges awaiting them in the decisive matches for a place in the play-offs.

A journey of ups and downs – Armitra’s three key matches

Following a successful start to the tournament, Armitra Esports faced a series of demanding matches. The 2–2 record they’ve achieved so far is the result of intense competition and fluctuating fortunes. So let’s take a closer look at what happened in their second, third and fourth matches of the group stage.

Armitra Esports 0–2 Lombard

6:13 | Mirage

Armitra’s first serious test came in their match against Lombard. Following their victory in the opening match, expectations were high, but reality soon brought those hopes back down to earth. Mirage, the first map of the series, proved to be quite a challenge. Their opponents dictated the pace from the outset, and Armitra were unable to find the right rhythm to put up a competitive fight. The final score of 6:13 speaks for itself. The team struggled both to build rounds and to hold onto points. A lack of stability on both sides of the map meant that Lombard controlled the match from the very first minutes. Although there were moments that offered hope of picking up the pace, they failed to translate into any real threat. Mirage quickly spiralled out of control and foreshadowed further difficulties in this clash.

6:13 | Inferno

After a poor start on Mirage, Armitra had to quickly regroup on Inferno – a map that often has a way of throwing teams off and changing the course of a match. Unfortunately, the state of play didn’t improve much here either. Despite attempts to find their feet in the new set-up, Armitra still struggled to impose their own style and score points at crucial moments. Another 6:13 result and a second defeat in the series only confirmed that, on the day, Lombard were simply the better-prepared team. Inferno failed to provide a turning point. Armitra were unable to stop their rampaging opponents, and their mistakes mounted with every round. Whilst their commitment cannot be denied, it proved insufficient in the face of their opponents’ solid performance. The entire series ended in a swift 0–2 defeat, and Armitra had to swallow the bitter pill of defeat.

Armitra Esports 0–2 Widelec

6:13 | Mirage

The third match in this stage pitted Armitra against widelec, a team that had shown itself to be one of the more solid sides in the field. The start of the Mirage match went very badly for Armitra. The first half alone, which ended 3:9, highlighted the scale of the problems Armitra was facing. They lacked consistency in scoring and composure at crucial moments, causing the team to fall behind their opponents. After the sides switched, Armitra tried to improve their play and turn the map around. Despite a few successful rounds, the opponents’ lead was already too clear to threaten the final result. The map ended with another 6–13, and the team had to accept yet another defeat.

2:13 | Inferno

Inferno proved to be yet another difficult battleground for Armitra. The first half alone did not go their way. The 2:10 score clearly showed that the opposition were effectively controlling the flow of the game and quickly building a comfortable lead. Despite their best efforts, Armitra could not find a way to stop their rampant opponents, who consistently capitalised on their chances. After the sides switched, the opponents completely dominated the map, giving Armitra no chance of winning even a single further round. Despite attempts to fight back, the team was unable to break widelec’s dominance, and the match on Inferno ended 2–13. This sealed yet another defeat, making Armitra’s path to progression in the tournament more difficult.

Armitra Esports 2–1 Rezun Team

11:13 | Dust 2

The first map of the series against Rezun Team got off to an even start. Right from the outset, both teams battled for every round, resulting in a 6–6 draw at half-time. The atmosphere was tense, and the score showed that neither side was willing to give ground without a fight. However, the closing stages of the map saw Rezun Team gain the upper hand, as they capitalised better on key moments and ultimately closed out Dust 2 with a score of 11–13. Despite the defeat, Armitra showed character and managed to keep pace with their opponents for most of the match.

13:4 | Ancient

On the second map, Armitra demonstrated far superior form. As early as the first half on Ancient, the team secured a comfortable 9:3 lead, which they consistently maintained throughout the match. Confident and effective play allowed Armitra to take control of the match. Ultimately, Ancient ended in a decisive 13:4 victory for Armitra. This result showed that the team is capable not only of competing but also of dominating at a high level, which gave them a great deal of confidence ahead of the decisive map.

13–6 | Train

The third map began as an evenly matched contest, with the first half ending in a 6–6 draw. Both teams displayed a high standard of play, fighting for every round and looking to gain the upper hand. However, after the sides switched, Armitra completely dominated their opponents, taking control of the game and giving Rezun Team no chance to make up for their deficit. Ultimately, the map ended in a comfortable 13–6 victory for Armitra. This triumph gave the team a crucial 2–1 lead in the series, allowing them to bounce back from their earlier defeats and get back in the hunt for the play-offs.

A turning point and renewed hope – another test lies ahead for Armitra

The series against Rezun Team showed that Armitra Esports can get back on track after difficult moments and fight for a valuable victory. A 2–2 record means the team has one last chance, but also plenty of motivation to keep fighting. A crucial match awaits them on 3 August, this time against Energolek. The match will be streamed on LertaArea, so everyone will be able to follow the excitement of this battle live. Will Armitra manage to build on their momentum and secure their dream promotion to the play-offs? We’ll find out very soon!
