Armitra NXT makes a flying start to the ESEA playoffs

- -

Lately, I’ve mainly been reporting on unlucky struggles, painful defeats, and even early exits from the playoffs in this 53rd ESEA season. Today, however, I finally have the chance to write something more optimistic. Let’s see how Armitra NXT is faring in the Open10 division playoffs. Although the academy has found itself in the slightly less favourable Bracket B, it is steadily making its way towards promotion to a higher division. And it’s doing so in truly impressive style.

Is Armitra NXT crushing its rivals, or winning with cool precision?

Armitra NXT 2:0 Goblins

walkover | Nuke / Anubis / Mirage

The Goblins failed to turn up for the match, so Armitra NXT secured a quick walkover victory. Although it’s always better to build form on the server, this turn of events allowed the team to preserve their freshness and energy for the rest of the playoffs. For the Armitra players, it was more of a day off than an esports battle; it was merely a formality that needed to be officially confirmed. This ‘free’ match also gave them time to prepare for the more demanding opponents they would face in the subsequent stages.

Armitra NXT 2:1 Uninvited Guest

13:8 | Inferno

The series against Uninvited Guest began with a clash on Inferno, a map requiring both good communication and precise timing. From the outset, Armitra NXT presented themselves as a team with a clearly defined gameplay structure. Although the opening minutes of the match were fairly even, the academy players did not let themselves be thrown off their stride and maintained their concentration even in the tougher moments.

As time went on, Armitra began to exploit gaps in their opponents’ play with increasing effectiveness. Their decisions were well-thought-out, and their execution of the plan was confident and precise. It was clear that the team were not playing under pressure, but with a cool head and faith in their strategies. After the break, they returned even stronger, quickly building a lead and avoiding any major mistakes that might have jeopardised their position.

The 13-8 victory was no fluke; it was the result of good organisation, mutual trust and tactical discipline. Inferno provided Armitra with a platform to demonstrate their team maturity, and the first point in the series only served to heighten the atmosphere ahead of the rest of the competition.

8:13 | Nuke

The second map of the series, Nuke, quickly showed that Uninvited Guest had no intention of giving up the match without a fight. It was the rivals who set the pace from the very start and found their feet better on this demanding map. Their play was more aggressive, at times surprisingly effective, which successfully threw Armitra off their stride. The crucial rounds went to the opponents, and every slip-up by NXT was mercilessly exploited. It was clear that Uninvited Guest knew exactly how to capitalise on their map advantage and kept Armitra at bay for most of the match.

Although Armitra tried to make up for their losses and look for openings, their play lacked fluidity and slightly better execution at key moments. Their attempts at a comeback were ambitious, but had little impact on the result. The opponents managed to keep their cool in the closing stages and closed out the map on their own terms. It wasn’t a bad map from Armitra’s perspective, but they simply fell short against their rivals. The 1-1 series score meant that everything would be decided on the decisive Anubis map.

13:11 | Anubis

The decisive map of the series against Uninvited Guest, Anubis, was full of excitement, but from the start, Armitra NXT looked like a team that knew exactly what they were playing for. After losing on Nuke, the team clearly came back into the game with greater focus and confidence. From the very first rounds, they controlled the flow of the match, playing with flair but without taking unnecessary risks. It was clear that they felt well prepared for this clash and were able to use the space offered by Anubis to build an advantage.

Although their opponents tried to get back into the match, Armitra effectively quashed their attempts and maintained a comfortable lead. The key moments were handled with maturity; the team didn’t panic but saw the game through to the end, even if the closing stages became a little tense. This victory was not only the conclusion of a difficult series but also a testament to their mental resilience and ability to adapt after defeat. Armitra NXT proved that they can learn from their mistakes and fight until the very end.

Armitra NXT 2:1 Crimson Knights

10:13 | Nuke

The clash with the Crimson Knights began on the Nuke map, but unfortunately, it was the opponents who got off to a better start. From the very first rounds, they set their own pace and showed decisiveness in every decision. Their aggressive play and good sense of rotations meant that Armitra NXT often had to react under pressure rather than dictate their own terms. In several situations, they lacked an effective finish; the academy managed to reach key positions, but their opponents were better at closing out rounds.

Despite this, Armitra didn’t let up and tried to fight back. There were moments when the game started to come together, but a lack of precision in crucial moments, particularly when outnumbering the opposition, affected the result. The map was close, but a few minor mistakes were enough for the Crimson Knights to maintain their lead right until the end. The 10-13 defeat stung, but the team knew that everything could still be turned around.

13:10 | Anubis

After a poor start to the series, Armitra NXT had to show some character, and that is exactly what they did on Anubis. From the very first minutes, the academy displayed a much more organised and determined style of play. They managed to seize the initiative and force the Crimson Knights to play on their own terms. Good communication and quick reactions to the opponent’s moves allowed them to build a comfortable lead, which translated into greater tactical freedom later in the match.

The Knights, however, had no intention of letting up and at times closed the gap, but Armitra kept their cool. Unlike on the first map, this time the end of the rounds belonged to them, played without haste and without unnecessary risks. This victory not only levelled the series but also sent a clear signal that the team knows how to bounce back from defeat and return to the game with renewed energy.

13:10 | Dust 2

The decisive Dust 2 proved to be a real test of character for both teams, but it was Armitra NXT who emerged victorious from this clash. The match was evenly matched almost from start to finish, and any round could have tipped the balance. Armitra, however, kept their cool and maintained consistency; even when the Crimson Knights tried to find their rhythm, the academy didn’t let them get away with much. Well-positioned play and solid teamwork were the key to maintaining control.

The team didn’t force the pace, but patiently built up an advantage, point by point. The pressure mounted in the closing stages, but Armitra showed that they can close out important matches. The 13-10 victory sealed their progression and demonstrated that even in tough, evenly matched encounters, the academy can maintain their focus. The entire series against the Crimson Knights is proof that Armitra NXT is maturing as a team; they are capable not only of bouncing back from defeats but also of maintaining their standard at crucial moments.

After two demanding series and a total of three wins, Armitra NXT is showing that it is no fluke that they are at this stage of the playoffs. The team not only handles the pressure but also displays an increasingly mature style of play with every match. The squad is able to respond to difficult situations, learn from them and come back stronger, and these are qualities that pay particular dividends in the knockout stages.

The academy’s next opponent will be the German side Rebound Academy. This is a rival that also has something to prove and will certainly not give up this match without a fight.
