An exciting final for Nisła Raków

- -

The finals of major esports tournaments are always special occasions, and when they’re played in a BO5 format, there’s certainly no shortage of excitement. On 28 September at 7.00 pm, the Polish team Nisła Raków took to the field to battle for the championship in the Plausible Gaming Champions Series. On the other side of the server lay an extremely formidable opponent – Enosis, defending their title from the previous edition. Although the final score suggests a swift 0–3 defeat, anyone who watched the match knows full well that it was a battle full of tension and twists and turns. The Poles showed tremendous character, but this time luck and tactical nuances tipped the balance in their opponents’ favour.

A strong start and a dramatic finish on the first map

The contest began on de_train, the map selected by Nisła Raków. Right from the start, the Polish players dictated the pace, and their teamwork and effective economic management allowed them to take an 8:4 lead at half-time. Everything pointed to them capitalising on their map pick and starting the final with a win. However, Enosis showed why they were going into this match as defending champions. The players managed to turn the match around, forcing it into overtime, where they demonstrated incredible efficiency and a cool head. Ultimately, it ended 22–20 in Enosis’s favour, which was a painful blow for the Poles, who felt that this map had slipped through their fingers by literally a matter of centimetres.

A strategic battle on Nuke

The second map of the contest was de_nuke, chosen by Enosis. Right from the opening rounds, it was clear that the defending champions had prepared well for this map. By half-time, they were leading 7–5, controlling key areas of the map and effectively neutralising Nisła Raków’s attempts at aggression. After the sides switched, however, the Polish team showed their mettle and began to make up for their deficit. Their tactics on the attacking side looked increasingly promising, and their team play gave cause for optimism. Unfortunately, when it came to the decisive rounds, Enosis once again proved their class. The 13–11 scoreline shows just how fiercely contested the match was, but also how close Raków came to levelling the score.

Back on their own map and yet another disappointment

The third map – de_dust2 – was once again chosen by Nisła Raków. This classic map initially gave their opponents a huge advantage. Enosis dominated the first half, finishing it with a score of 9–3. It seemed as though this would be a one-sided affair. However, the Poles had no intention of giving up. After the side change, they launched a series of bold attacks that allowed them to close the gap on their rivals and create real excitement in the closing stages. Unfortunately, once again it was Enosis who drew on their experience and closed out the map with a score of 13:11. Looking at the match as a whole, there was a sense of immense frustration – three maps, three times the margin was literally just a few rounds.

Maps that never made it onto the board

As the series ended 3–0 in Enosis’s favour, there was no longer any need to play further maps. The fourth map, de_overpass, was to be Enosis’s choice, with de_inferno as the decider, selected by a vote. Unfortunately, viewers did not get to see these clashes, although many fans had hoped that Nisła Raków would manage to break their losing streak and prolong the excitement.

Enosis defended their title; Nisła Raków held their heads high

Although the 0–3 scoreline looks one-sided, anyone who watched the match knows that the reality was quite different. All the maps were incredibly close, with the outcome of each one hanging in the balance right until the very end. Enosis showed tremendous mental resilience and once again proved that they can win the most important matches. Defending their title means they can speak of a historic success – a ‘back-to-back’ victory.

For Nisła Raków, on the other hand, this is a great lesson and a sign that they are truly close to the top. Second place in the Plausible Gaming Champions Series is a huge achievement, but at the same time a painful experience, as the team had a real chance of lifting the trophy.

What lies ahead for the Polish team?

The future looks exciting for Nisła Raków. The team isn’t slowing down and is already preparing for the next challenges. Registrations are currently open for ESEA and Arrma, where we’ll also see Polish players in action. In addition, they are competing in the third season of the Ascent Legacy Series, and fans can look forward to yet another event – on 29 September, it was announced that Nisła Raków will take part in the qualifiers for Immunity League: Return. The tournament kicks off this coming Friday, 3 October at 6.00 pm, and will undoubtedly be another chance to prove their worth on the Polish scene.

Summary

The Plausible Gaming Champions Series final will long remain in the fans’ memories. Although Nisła Raków did not lift the trophy, the team showed great heart and proved that they can compete with the very best. Closely contested maps, battles fought right to the very end, and the excitement that accompanied every clash made this a series worthy of a final.

Today, we can only imagine just how much such a narrow defeat must hurt. However, looking at the team’s progress and the number of upcoming tournaments, one thing is certain – we’ll be hearing plenty more about Nisła Raków, and their path to their first major trophy seems only a matter of time.
