Hussars in the Galaxy Cup: Reborn Edition 3 final

- -

We had to wait a while for the next stage of the 3rd edition of the Galaxy Cup for the Hussars, as they managed to win Group B and went straight through to the quarter-finals, skipping the earlier rounds. When they finally faced Pach Esports in the quarter-finals, they sent them packing with a 2–1 victory (more on that match HERE). Awaiting them in the semi-finals was TNC Esports, the reigning Army Masters champions.

The battle for the Galaxy Cup 3 final

The match began with de_mirage, the map selected by TNC. This is a map on which the Hussars do not feel particularly comfortable and find it difficult to play. Our team started on the better side, the defensive side. The pistol round went to the opponents, and thanks to that they soon took a 2–0 lead. However, they didn’t stop there and added two more rounds. Hussars fought back, although they managed to win just a single round, after which the opponents added another round of their own. We saw this pattern repeat itself a few more times, and the first half ended with a score of 8:4, with TNC in the lead.

The second half didn’t get off to a better start, as our team once again failed to win the pistol round, and their opponents quickly and ruthlessly capitalised on this, taking a 10–5 lead. From that point on, Hussars pulled themselves together and won three rounds, coming dangerously close to levelling the score. TheNightClan’s players took note and won every round from then on, securing victory on their map of choice with a score of 13:7.

We moved on to the map chosen by Hussars, namely de_nuke. Once again, our partner started the map on the defending side, but this time too the pistol round went to the opponents, giving them an early 2:0 lead. However, Hussars’ response was swift, and after just two more rounds we were level. Our partner didn’t stop there, managing to take a 3:2 lead. This lead lasted only one round, and we were back on level terms. The draw also lasted just one round, after which the Hussars regained the lead, which they extended right until the end of the first half, which we finished with a score of 9–3 in our partner’s favour.

With such a score, finishing the map is merely a formality, although even such formalities are often not seen through to the end. In this case, the Hussars won the pistol round, but our opponents managed to break that run and bring the score to 6–10. Our partner responded – twice – which gave them 6 map rounds. However, there was no need for more than one, and we saw the score level at 1:1 in maps.

After two rather one-sided maps for both teams, it was time for the decider – de_anubis. Hussars started on the more difficult CT side, where securing five rounds was already a solid lead. That lead, however, had to be worked for, and it was TNC who started the map strongly, winning the pistol round and taking a 2:0 lead. Our partner fought back, but just as on the first map, only once. Despite this, the opponents failed to build a significant lead, and by the sixth round the score was level. The Hussars even managed to take the lead, although it was quickly snatched away and handed back to TNC. Despite this, our partner didn’t give up, and by the end of the first half, the score stood at 7–5 in favour of TheNightClan.

The second half, in which the Hussars were on the TT side, promised a swift comeback and a battle for victory right down to the final rounds. And so it proved, as we saw the score level after just two rounds of this half. The Hussars didn’t stop there and took a 9–7 lead. TNC responded twice, bringing the score back to 9–9. However, our opponents failed to take the lead, as our partner quickly regained the advantage, albeit by just a single point this time. That lead also vanished just as quickly as it had appeared, with the score now at 12:10. The first chance to win was missed, and nerves began to set in. There was a push on bombsite A, where Mordej found himself in a 1-on-2 situation; he capitalised on it and sent the Hussars through to the Galaxy Cup final.

Galaxy Cup: Reborn Edition III – Semi-final (30 April 2025)

When is the final, and who will the Hussars be facing?

The date of the final is not yet known, but we do know that our partner’s opponent will be a good old group-stage friend, namely the radar bois team. In their group stage match, the Hussars won comfortably 13:1. How will they fare this time around in a BO3 format? We’ll find out around 10 May.
