The final bend before the home straight – our partners are still fighting for their place in the ESEA

- -

In previous articles, one might have got the impression that the teams in the ESEA competition were slowly entering the final stretch of the season. Everything pointed to the regular season concluding after the usual ten rounds. However, this season has brought a surprise… The competition will last a full fourteen matches. Just when it seemed the finish line was in sight, it turned out there was one more bend in the road ahead for the teams.

This gives the battle in the Intermediate and Main divisions a whole new dynamic. Instead of calculating final scenarios, the teams must refocus on scoring points consistently. A real marathon finish lies ahead, where only now does the road truly begin to lead towards the finish line.

ESEA Intermediate and Main – the situation ahead of the season finale

The past few weeks have brought an intense marathon of matches for the teams competing in ESEA Intermediate and Main. In Intermediate, we’ve seen both dominant performances and incredibly tight matches ending in overtime. The table remains tight, and the point differences mean no one can afford to relax for a moment. In Main, the situation looks just as interesting. There, our partners are showing stability and growing confidence. Meanwhile, the end of the regular season promises to be incredibly exciting… Three rounds are enough for everything to change, but also so few that there is practically no margin for error.

ESEA Intermediate

VoFoxen Esport – a great start, a tougher finish

VoFoxen Esport has just come through one of the most intense periods of the ESEA Intermediate season. The last six matches played have clearly impacted their position in the table. The start of this run, however, was nothing short of exemplary. Four consecutive wins allowed the team not only to improve their record but, above all, to find stability and confidence.

The 13-4 win against NoNames on Ancient was a display of control from the very first rounds. VoFoxen quickly set the pace and did not allow their opponents to get into their stride. The clash with aliengambit on Nuke, which ended 13-7, was similar, where consistency and maintaining the lead resulted in a comfortable map victory. The encounter with PrychipGG on Ancient, which ended 13-10, proved more challenging. Here, the margin was narrower, suggesting a more evenly matched contest. Meanwhile, the 13-5 victory against YUYIETTE on Overpass once again demonstrated that when VoFoxen finds its rhythm, it can completely dominate its opponent.

Unfortunately, the run was halted in the last two rounds. The 7-13 defeat to Pandaric Main on Anubis was more pronounced and showed that not every map goes their way. The clash with HKH on Nuke brought even more excitement. The match only ended after overtime with a score of 13–16. Losses like this hurt the most, as turning a few rounds around could have meant a completely different result. A 6–5 record with three rounds remaining in the regular season means VoFoxen are still very much in the running.

Victoria Nostra – inconsistent form and two walkovers

Victoria Nostra have played five matches recently, which have significantly affected their position in the table. Two of them ended in walkovers, against Made In Poland and FeedTheEgo. Whilst such victories always improve the record and provide some breathing space, they do not answer the question of the team’s true form in matches on the server. Unfortunately, these were far more demanding. ViNo came closest to victory in the match against Super Zawodnicy on Mirage. The match only ended after overtime with a score of 14:16, suggesting an extremely even contest and a battle right down to the final rounds. Defeats of this kind tend to be the most frustrating. Especially when victory is so close.

The clash with KAMKGG on Ancient proved far more difficult, ending with a score of 4:13. This match clearly did not go ViNo’s way and showed that the team is still searching for stability, especially on more demanding maps. The response, however, came in the next match. It was a 13–11 victory over Element on Dust 2, signalling that the team can bounce back from a poor performance and return to winning ways.

With a 4–6 record and four matches remaining in the regular season, ViNo’s situation remains wide open. Every upcoming match will be of immense importance. If the team manages to stabilise their form and turn close matches into victories, the end of the season could still bring positive results.

Lunacy Gaming – a mix of wins and losses

Lunacy Gaming has also had a very challenging period. A run of six matches has significantly reshuffled their position in the ESEA Intermediate table. Unfortunately, the start of this run was not a successful one. The 9-13 defeat to Aim For Kneecaps on Mirage was still a relatively even contest, in which a few rounds could have tipped the balance in the other team’s favour. However, the clash with Real Steel on Nuke proved far more difficult, ending in a 3:13 defeat. That match clearly did not go Lunacy’s way and demonstrated just how demanding this map can be without full control of the game’s tempo.

The team’s response, however, was swift. A 13:7 victory over FatSlowAcoustic on Nuke helped rebuild morale and proved that the team is capable of learning from its previous mistakes. The following weeks brought mixed results… An 8-13 defeat to SouthendMassive on Nuke once again halted their momentum, but Lunacy did not give up. Next came a 13-10 win against Chaos Enforcers on Anubis, which was a more evenly matched affair and helped build confidence towards the end of the map. In turn, the 13–7 victory against Vay-eSports on Ancient was a solid, controlled win that showed the team could maintain their focus for the entire match.

A 4–7 record with three rounds remaining in the season means that the margin for error is practically exhausted. Lunacy Gaming still has a mathematical chance of improving their position, but the final stages of the regular season will require maximum concentration and consistent scoring.

ESEA Main

Nexium POLteam – a run of three wins

Nexium POLteam has played three matches recently, all of which ended in victories. In the Main division, where the level of competition is significantly higher, such a run is particularly significant. Especially in the closing stages of the regular season. Every victory brings not only points but also sends a signal to the rest of the field that the team is finding its rhythm at a crucial moment in the season. The first of these clashes ended with a 13-8 result against RONIN PT on Mirage. The match was relatively controlled and allowed POLteam to dictate the pace of play.

The match against ZEROFRAME on Ancient ended with an identical score of 13-8, where the team once again proved that they can maintain their lead and safely close out the map without unnecessary complications. The most demanding test was the clash with TRUPPEN on Inferno. The 13-11 scoreline suggests a much more evenly matched contest, in which the finer details could have proved decisive. Individual rounds, tactical decisions or maintaining concentration in the closing stages. It is precisely these kinds of matches that often build a team’s character. A win in tougher conditions can have a huge psychological impact ahead of the final rounds.

With a current record of 6–5 and three matches remaining, Nexium POLteam are now realistically in the fight for the best possible position before the end of the regular season. If they manage to maintain their current stability and consistency, the end of the season could prove exceptionally successful for them.

Constrict Gaming – still at the top

Constrict Gaming confirms that it is no coincidence they are among the very top of ESEA Main. Their last three matches have only strengthened their position in the table and shown that the team can win both in a controlled style and in true nail-biting marathons. The clash with Team Juvi on Nuke ended 13-8 and was a relatively steady affair. Constrict maintained the right pace from the start, not allowing their opponents to seize the initiative. Such victories are extremely valuable, as they demonstrate maturity and the ability to close out matches without taking unnecessary risks.

The match against GAMESPORT on Dust 2 proved far more thrilling. The match only ended after extra time with a score of 19:16, which speaks to an incredibly even contest. Battles of this kind are a test of character and team communication. Constrict proved that in crucial moments they can keep a cool head and capitalise on their opportunities, even as the pressure mounts round by round. The only defeat during this period was the clash with Infinity on Inferno, which also went to overtime, though this time ending 13:16. Despite the loss, it is difficult to speak of any clear weakness. The differences were minimal, and the result was decided by the finer details. Crucially, the team regularly takes close matches to the final stages, which speaks to their consistent level of performance.

An 8–3 record with three rounds remaining in the regular season puts Constrict Gaming in a very comfortable position. If they maintain their current form and effectiveness in decisive moments, they can finish the regular season in truly impressive style and look forward to the next phase of the competition with optimism.

The end of the season promises to be a real test of character

Although it seemed not long ago that the regular season was heading for a swift conclusion, the additional rounds have kept the table wide open. In ESEA Intermediate, the battle is on to stabilise form and make the most of the final chances to improve their record. VoFoxen still have everything in their own hands, ViNo need consistency, and Lunacy must play the end of the season almost flawlessly. In the Main division, however, the situation looks even more interesting. Nexium POLteam has hit a winning streak at the perfect moment, whilst Constrict Gaming is proving itself to be one of the strongest teams in this phase of the competition. Three rounds is, on the one hand, not much. On the other, however, it is enough to completely reshuffle the standings. There will be no room for calculations now. Every map, every round and every point could determine the final balance of power.
