Summary of the third round of the GALAXY CUP

- -

A fratricidal duel – Armitra defeats Armitra.

[wpdatatable id=8]

In a match between teams with a 0–2 record: Armitra’s first team took on the academy. Interestingly, this match went to a third map to decide the winner. Ultimately, the academy are out of the tournament, whilst the main squad carry on. A closely fought Nuke, a closely fought Dust2, and Ancient dominated by Armitra Main.

Avalanche.gg win their first match with Borbim and Quzim in the line-up.

[wpdatatable id=9]

This team recently unveiled their latest young talent – Adam “Quzi” Kozak can count his debut as a success, as his team managed to win 2–0 and escape elimination. The match featured a closely contested Inferno and a Mirage map dominated by the Avalanche squad.

This time, the mix is at the bottom.

[wpdatatable id=10]

It’s no secret that in some cases it’s harder to play as a mixed team than as a well-organised squad that bases its style on the opponent’s behaviour. The Thai mix, for better or worse, fell short in this encounter, although we did see a third map. One CS saying also applies to this match: “If you don’t win 2–0, you lose 2–1,” as Tajski Mix took the first map (Nuke) but ultimately lost on Inferno and Mirage, ending up with a 2–1 defeat on maps.

A bitter pill to swallow for Team Suction.

[wpdatatable id=11]

After this match, the Team Suction players will probably never touch pudding again. Pudding, that ‘tough soup’ (xD), is exactly what the players served their opponents – a 3–0 win on Anubis and a 1–0 win on Nuke.

Los Kogutos AC put up a fight on the second map.

[wpdatatable id=12]

The first map went quite smoothly to TNC Esport with a score of 13–5 (Vertigo). On the second map, we saw a bit more of a fight from the Kogutos Academy, but ultimately the map still went to The Night Clan, and it is they who advance to the play-offs with a 3-0 record.

Horizon beat Modern Players.

[wpdatatable id=13]

A fairly straightforward match for the Horizon players, at least if we look at the map scores – Nuke 13–4 to Horizon Esports and Anubis 13–7.

Vertigo went to overtime.

[wpdatatable id=14]

The first map went to Panica.Gaming, with a score of 13–7 on Anubis. The second match took place on de_vertigo. In our opinion, this was one of the most evenly matched contests in the tournament; it was only after two overtime periods that Panica.Gaming proved better than Ice Age, winning 19–17. Panica.Gaming are the next team to advance with a 3–0 record – congratulations.

It was a close call – this match could easily have ended today.

[wpdatatable id=15]

Yesterday, at around 11.50 pm, the final match of the third round of the Galaxy Cup: Reborn Edition – GRIN Esports vs. ESSA – came to an end. Why so late? The match was so fiercely contested that we needed a third map. Ultimately, Grin Esports came out on top in this encounter, but credit is also due to the other team, thanks to whom we were able to watch such a closely fought match – which you can still watch, as there’s a recording of the broadcast; we’ve left the link below. Definitely the most entertaining match to watch – huge congratulations to both teams. A brilliant comeback from Grin Esports.

The tortoise isn’t so slow after all.

[wpdatatable id=16]

The Żółw Od Tyłu players beat Invisibilia Gaming 13–8 on de_mirage. As it turns out, Żółw aren’t as slow as they seem, and they need just one more win to make it through to the knockout stages.

POLTeam lose.

[wpdatatable id=16]

Gravity Esports proved stronger on the de_anubis map against POLTeam. POLTeam will be playing for everything in the very next round.

Signum Esports beat UNKNVN.

[wpdatatable id=18]

On the de_ancient map. Signum are just one win away from the knockout stage, whilst UNKNVN are one win away from elimination. How will things pan out for these two teams? We’ll find out in the coming days.

Not too bad…

[wpdatatable id=19]

The team’s name is definitely misleading – they’re now just one win away from the knockout stage. WWP beat CobraTeam quite convincingly.

Assembled

[wpdatatable id=20]

Montarzufka has put together a rather interesting squad and is sending UEC Family into a do-or-die match. A one-sided affair in Montarzufka’s favour.

SENT Esport are fielding KunaiTeam in a clash between teams with a 1-2 record.

[wpdatatable id=22]

Ancient have taken the lead over SENT Esport, and they are now just one match away from the knockout stages, whilst KunaiTeam are edging closer to the chopping block. Another defeat for them would mean elimination from the tournament.

The machetes are too sharp for SZEGED.

[wpdatatable id=21]

In this match on the de_nuke map, the Machetes proved to be the better side. The final score was 13–9.

Disrupt Team vs. Emeritos Koxitos.
