The playoffs of the 12th season of Arrmy Open are slowly drawing to a close, and the teams confidently heading for promotion are beginning to emerge. Until now, Gloris eSports had been one of them, but their last match brought their run to an end. Their opponents were Ankara Messi, who finished 41st in the regular season
A battle to the final round – Gloris eSports vs Ankara Messi
Our partner was still the favourite in this match, backed by their experience in the Arrmy leagues and the calibre of their players. The match began on the map de_mirage, chosen by the opponents. Things started very well for the opponents, as they managed to win the first two rounds. However, we had to wait a while for a response from our partner, as it only came in the 5th round when the score stood at 1:4. Gloris managed to add a second round to that, and two more would have put them level. However, the opponents added two more rounds to their tally and regained a four-point lead at 6:2. Gloris eSports tried to level the score until the end of the half, but it proved difficult, and the opponents finished the first half of their chosen map leading 7:5.
The pistol round, however, gave them two more rounds, which, when added, gave us a score of 9-5. Our team failed to win the next round, which they played fully equipped, giving the opponents a score of 11-5. This was the final wake-up call for Gloris to start their comeback, as it might be too late later on. That wake-up call was heeded, and our favourites went on a four-round run that brought them to 9-11. Despite this, the opponents remained alert and, as soon as they sensed an opportunity, closed out the first map with a 13-9 score.
The map chosen by our partner turned out to be de_nuke, which had been going well for them in recent matches. This time, too, we saw a good start, capped off with a win in the pistol round. Unfortunately, the second round went to the opponents, and it was they who started the match with a 3:1 lead. Once again, we saw a scenario similar to the first map, with Gloris having to chase the score. Thanks to the next round, they managed to close the gap to one round, but Ankara did not relinquish the lead so easily and extended their advantage to 7-2. From that point on, however, it was Gloris eSports who went on a run of winning rounds, ending the first half with the score at 7-5.
The opponents managed to win the second pistol round again and, just like on the first map, took a 9-5 lead. This time, our partner managed to win the first full round, which gave them a tiebreaker point at 8-9. This opportunity to level the score was squandered, which Ankara immediately capitalised on, going on a run that gave them four match points. The first was missed, but they succeeded on the second attempt, and Gloris eSports were knocked out of the Arrmy Open playoffs in the third round, losing the match 0-2.

Where will we see Gloris next?
Currently, many underground teams are in their pre-season, training hard for the next season of Arrmy. That’s exactly how our partner will be spending it, but in which pre-season tournaments will we see them? We don’t know that yet, but we do know that they will definitely be competing in the 13th season of Arrmy, which kicks off in mid-May.
