Last season, the Main division had the fewest teams among our partners. However, two of our partners, Armitra and Hussars, secured promotion from ESEA Intermediate, and it was them we were able to watch at this level of competition. Of course, alongside them we were also able to watch Young Stars Talents, who are now in their second season in the aforementioned league.
Young Stars Talents
Starting with the partner that has been at this level the longest, namely Young Stars Talents. They finished last season with a 7-7 record and failed to make the playoffs, but this season they’d like to change that. They started the season with three wins, and it looked set to be a breakthrough season for them, in which they could fight for promotion to ESEA Advanced (more HERE). Their enthusiasm wasn’t dampened by the subsequent matches, where our partner lost one game but won the next two, recording a 5-1 record (more HERE). The time came for tougher matches, where they lost to two teams. Although they followed this up with another win, they also suffered two more defeats, resulting in a 6-5 record (more HERE). They had three matches left to play, which would decide whether they would make the playoffs or simply avoid relegation. In those final matches, they suffered two defeats to one win, and ultimately Young Stars Talents will continue to play in ESEA Main for the 54th ESEA season. At the end of this season, they finished with a 7-7 record and ranked 86th–88th.

Armitra Esports
Moving on to the first debutant, Armitra did not have an easy time securing promotion last season. It was only in the losers’ bracket, after winning seven matches, that they managed to secure promotion. They didn’t have it easy at the start of this season either, as they began with two defeats (more HERE). After that, however, they went on a very good run of three wins in a row, bringing their record to 3:2. All good things must come to an end, however, and Armitra’s winning streak came to an end, with the team instead suffering a run of defeats that brought their record down to 3:5 (more HERE). A turnaround followed, though, and another winning streak, this time spanning four matches. Going into the last two matches, our partner had a 7-5 record and were confident they could hold on to it. They could also have fought for a place in the playoffs, but the last two matches did not go their way and our second partner finished the season with a 7-7 record, only this time in 100th place.

Hussars
We are left with the last of our three partners, and unfortunately, this time the worst has been saved for last. Hussars are one of two debutants and the only one of the two who have failed to cope at this level of competition. They started the season with six defeats, leaving them with a 0:6 record. They later bounced back slightly, but only managed two wins and two accompanying defeats (more HERE). After 10 matches, they had a record of 8:2 and had to fight to stay in the Main division. They won the first of their last four matches, but a defeat followed immediately. Despite their last two wins, they still finished in 151st place, which meant a return to the Intermediate league. This is, unfortunately, a clear example of the gulf that often separates the Intermediate league from the Main league. The Hussars will certainly learn a valuable lesson from this season and, hopefully, return to this division as early as the 55th season.
